MARCH BY-ELECTIONS: IFP storms to victory in Zululand wards, PA adds to ANC’s electoral pain in Eastern Cape

The IFP had a very strong night in the Zululand district of KwaZulu-Natal, winning two wards off the National Freedom Party in Nongoma and a ward off the ANC in AbaQulusi. The Patriotic Alliance rubbed salt in the ANC’s electoral wounds by taking a seat off the party in Dr Beyers Naude Municipality in the Eastern Cape. These setbacks notwithstanding, the ANC retained two other Eastern Cape wards by large margins.
