JOHANNESBURG – The Democratic Alliance has announced a full list of candidates vying for top positions at the party’s upcoming elective Federal Congress.
Nominations for the candidates opened on 27 February and close on Monday, 23 March. The Federal Congress will take place on 11 and 12 April.
Vying for the position of federal leader is Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis against Sibusiso Dyonase, the part’s caucus leader for the Sedibeng District Municipality. For the three-deputy federal chairperson, seven leaders have accepted nominations.

These include former Tshwane mayor Cilliers Brink, Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi, DA Johannesburg caucus leader Belinda Echeozonjoku, Western Cape Provincial Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety Anroux Marias, Former Western Cape Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo and interim DA Youth Leader, Nicholas Nyati.
Democratic Alliance leader in the Gauteng Legislature Solly Msimanga and Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament Ivan Meyer will contest for federal chairperson.
