JOHANNESBURG - The SABC announced that it has placed its journalist Natasha Phiri on precautionary suspension. 
This comes after Sergeant Fannie Nkosi admitted to paying her R500. 
Phiri reportedly received money from Nkosi in exchange for a contact number. 
The Gauteng Organised Crime Unit member is testifying at the Madlanga Commission,
But when asked to give reasons for the payment, Nkosi held back.
 









SABC spokesperson Mmoni Ngubane said this matter is being investigated. 
"The SABC views this matter in a serious light and has placed Ms Natasha Phiri on a precautionary suspension while the matter is being investigated.
"The SABC always encourages its staff members to uphold the corporation’s values of trust, respect and integrity in all their interactions", she said.
